Band Cutting (Cutting Process)
Diamond Band Cutting (old)
There is no old definition.
Diamond
Band Cutting (new) (better)
To complete the contour sawing picture and
make possible the cutting of those materials or designs which resist ready
severing by means of either of the other
methods, diamond sawing can be employed. By means of special diamond band saw
blades, Fig., hardened steel, tungsten carbide, stone, and various vitreous
materials can be cut direct to a latout line with a precision comparable to
that of conventional contour sawing. Machinesdeveloped specially for this
purpose will handle work up to 10 inches in thickness and provide a throat
depth of 16 inches. Blade speeds from 3000 to 8000 fpm are available. Normal kerf
left by the blades is approximately 1/16-inch in width.
