The Housing

The two part housing was to contain and protect the PCB and vacuum sensor, and to provide them with a means to be secured within the engine compartment. The housing had to be as compact as possible while having adequate strenght and using minimum material. The solid design package was used to create the majority of the two part housing and the Surface Design package was used to create the surface around the vacuum sensor The top housing was quite complex, involving projections to match the components and ventilation slots to help dissipate the heat generate.

Research and Product Development

In today's increasingly competitive markets, as a succession of new and better product are essential for the successful company. Research activities can include investigating, testing and developing new materials, new products and new process technologies. The design department subsequently exploits research results in the design, modelling, simulation and analysis of new products. Once built, prototype and product testing are carried out by product development. Information processing needs include real-time data recording and complex analysis software, extensive test, image, graphics and occasionally video processing. Inputs come from outside research source such as universities, patent office and laboraty reports.
