1.Metal surface repairs
many metal cracks can be permanently repaired. Those that can not be permanent can carry on until new parts can be obtained.Examples of repairable parts are: pump casting, valve bodies, oil pans and their covers, bearing housing, and gear boxes. The following directions should be followed:
-Clean and degrease the crack area
-Drill holes 1/8 inch langer than the crack at both ends of the crack
-İf the crack is long, drill additional holes to relieve the stress within the crack
-Use the V point of a drill on the outer edge of the crack to V out the entire length of the crack. This will provide more surface area for the epoxy to take hold.
-Use a spatula to force the material deep into the crack and overlap the crack up to 1 inch at both ends.
-Where great strength is required, a piece of reinforceing material could be used over the patch.Push it into the patch and cover it with additional epoxy.

2.Honing against a faceplate
İf the short-bore part has one face that is flat and perpendicular to the bore, install a face plate on the machine and hone while pressing the flat surface against the faceplate.
