Paperless Design (Manufactured Method)
(Old)
CAD systems are capable of rapidly and completely analyzing designs, from a simple bracket or a shaft, to large and complex structures. The two-engine Boeing 777 passenger airplane, for example was designed completely by computer, with 2000 workstations linked to eight design servers.

Paperless design techniques enables engineers to design and optimize individual components and subsystems on their computer screens, then bring all of the subsystems tıgethar and simulate the operation of the entire system.
The most sophisticated paperless design enable groups of engineers to work semi-independently and semiautonomously of their own subsystem designs at their own location and in their own country at the same time without getting in each other's way and to specialize in the design of those components and subsystems in which they are most proficient.
These have enourmous advantages over the old paper based designs in terms of productivity, efficiency, quality and time and cost savings. Like all computer based applications, it eliminates the temporal, geopraphical and physical barriers that traditionaly prevent multiple groups from participating in the design processes. Manufactures can also use 3-D CAD in conjuction with stereo-lithography to replace the old manual methods of molding and modeling in wood or clay.
This technique uses the computer as the design tool and computer-controlled laser to build up layer after layer of the model. Because the design is created with the aid of the computer, it cuts down on paper and flaws and it facilities redesign and remodeling in minutes.
It, therefore, cuts waste while improving the product design and can shrink the modeling process form weeks or years to days. The Boeing 777, unveiled by Boeing Corporation on April 9, 1994, was the first jetliner designed entirely using concurrent engineering and paperless design techniques.
