1)     Countersinking:

(OLD)

Countersinking is the shaping of a hole or depression to conform to the shape and thickness of a flat or oval screwhead; it is done with a cone-shaped cutter called a countersink. The angle at which the depression is cut is standard, being controlled by the countersink, which in turn is made to conform with the angle of the underside of the screwhead. The purpose of countersinking is to permit the head of a flathead screw to set flush with or slightly below the surface of the wood. A hole that is to receive a flathead or ovalhead screw is first bored, then it is countersunk on the surface which the screw enters. The depth to which a hole is countersunk will depend on the thickness of the screwhesd. This thickness is measured from the point where the body of the screw ends and the head starts, to the widest part of the head.

2) PLANT ENGINEERING:

(OLD)

In some cases the production reqirements for a new product require a new manufacturing facility. Plant engineering addresses the design of a production facility totally different from the current production process. Many companies go through this process when the initial production facility is designed and built to meet the needs of a new product line. However, some manufacturers who have frequent model changes, such as those in the automotive industry, would have a large plant engineering group as a part of production engineering to make major facility changes annually.

(BETTER)

The plant engineering organization must keep ahead of the game or get out of the way.An engaged plant engineering group can see the direct relationship between what it does daily and the financial impact on the company’s bottom line.

Plant engineers must understand the business case for action. Again, why are we here?
Determine the current condition. How are things done around here? Are there opportunities
for improvement? If so, define the target condition. What’s possible and achievable? The key
to this improvement process is developing a realistic action plan to get from the current to the
target condition.Timing is everything.

Successful plant engineers know and understand the following very clearly:
The current and desired state of the engineering function
The bottom-line impact on plant profitability
Their internal vision of the future
Their mission, vision, and organizational values

Don’t underestimate the power of values. Values govern behavior (“walk the talk”).
Behavior defines your work ethic (what gets measured gets done).Work ethics enable profitability
(continuous improvement). Profitability drives survivability (carried out by thrivers).
And survivability overcomes the competition (benchmark the best).

4) Kohonen Network

(OLD)

Kohonen network is a self-organizing map.Such a network can learn to detect regularities and correlations in their input and adapt their future responses to that input accordingly. The network parameters are adapted by a learning procedure based on input patterns only(unsupervised learning).Contrary to the standrd supervised learning methods , the unsupervised ones us input signals to exract knowledge from data.During learnin , there is no feedback to the environment or the investigated process. Therefore, neurons and weghted connections should have a certain level of self-organization.Moreover, unsupervised learning is only usefull and effective when there is a redundancy of learning patterns.Input and neurons in the competitive layer are connected entirely.Furthermore , the concurrent layer is the network output which generates the response of the kohenen network.

Drum-Buffer-Rope System

(OLD)

A drum-buffer-rope production control system has the following basic characteristics.
-The CCR beats the drum to set the pace for entire factory.
-An information rope ties production starts to the CCR.
An inventory buffer at (or heading toward) the constraint protects it from upstream stoppages. (Beyond the Theory of Constraints, William Levinson, p42)

STANDARDIZED WORK:

(OLD)

Standardized work is work done at highest efficiency, with a minimum of waste, as a result of all tasks at the work site being organized into perfect sequences.
The three goals for standardized work are (1) high productivity, (2) line balancing for all processes from a production timing standpoint, and (3) elimination of excessive work in process inventory. Each team member is trained in standartized work process and principles; as a result, teams are responsible for the efficient layout of work assignments. Therefore, there is no need for industrial engineers in that function at the facility.

Reaming

(OLD)

Reaming is used to slighlt enlarge a hole, to provide a better tolerance on its diameter, and to improve its surface finish. The tool is called a reamer , and it usually has straight flutes.

Overhead Monorail Handling

(OLD)

Usually, a continuous series of interconnected hooks attached to free-turning rollers that ride in overhead tracks. Parts are hung from the hooks to transport material between workstations or through a production operation. This type of system is frequently used to bring parts past human or robot paint sprayers to complete a painting or coating opeation.

  1. Reaming'i ben yapmıştım ama burda siz tekrar cevap vermişsiniz. Aslında cevaplandı ama gözden kaçırdınız heralde.Tekrar baka bilir misiniz acaba?

  3. Şimdi şöyle oluyor;

Eğer hala bir soru işareti varsa kafanızda, ben her yaptığım kelimeyi tek tek açtığım başlık altında güncelleyerek yaptığımdan her yapışımda hocaya mail atıyorum.
