Sintering is a heat treatment operation performed on the compact to bond its metallic particles, thereby increasing strength and hardness. The treatment is usually carried out at temperatures between 0.7 and 0.9 of the metal's melting point.

Cutting Speed
Machining is not just one process;it is a group of processes. The common feature is the use of cutting tool to form a chip that is removed from the workpart. To perform the operation ,relative motion is required between the tool and work. This relative motion is achived in most machinig operations by means of primary motion, called the cutting speed. The shape of the tool and its penetration into the work surface, combined with this motion, produces the desired shape of the resulting work surface.

Reaming
Reaming is used to slighlt enlarge a hole, to provide a better tolerance on its diameter, and to improve its surface finish. The tool is called a reamer , and it usually has straight flutes.

Cold Welding
Cold welding(CW) is a solid-state welding process accomplished by applying pressure between clean contacting surfaces at room temperature. The faying surface must be exceptionally clean for CW to work, and cleaning is usually done by degreasing and wire brushing immediately before joining. Also, at least one of the metals to be welded, and preferably both, must be very ductile and free of work hardening.Metals such as soft aluminum and copper can be readily cold welded.
