Cast Irons
Cast irons are iron-carbon silicon alloys, typically containing 2% to 4% C and 0.5% to 3% Si, that pass through the eutectic reactions during solidifications. There are 5 types of cast irons:
- Gray Cast irons contain small, interconnected graphite flakes that cause low strength and ductility.
- White cast irons are a hard, brittle alloy containing massive amounts of Fe3C.
- Malleable cast irons are formed by the heat treatment of white iron, produces rounded clumps of graphite.
- Ductile or nolular cast irons contain spheroidal graphite particles obtained during solidification.
- Compacted graphite cast iron contains rounded but interconnected graphite also produced during solidification.

Coining:
Coining is a special type of Closed die forging, in which a three-dimensional surface detail is imparted to a preform. The largests application is, of course, to the minting of coings, but coining is useful for improving the dimensional accuracy, surface finish or detail of other parts too. Motion Analysis:
Motion analysis is a central problem in computer vision, and the past two decades have seen improtant advances in this field. However, visual motion is still often considered on a pixel-by-pixel basis, even though this ignores the fact that image regions corresponding to a single object usually undergo motion that is highly correlated.Further, it is often to interest to accurately measure the boundaries of moving regions. In the case of articulated motion, especially human motion, discovering motion boundaries is non-trivial but an important task nonetheless. Another related problem is identifiying and grouping multiple disconnected regions moving in similar motions, such as a flock of geese. Early approaches focused on measuring motion of either the boundaries or the interior but seldom both in unison. For several years now, attempts have been made to include spatial coherence terms into algorithms for 2 and 3-D motion recovery, as well as motion boundary estimation. Logistics Management:
A major role of an integrated logistics system is to assist in the production, consumption, distribution, or management of the "supply chain" of goods and services. Integrated and seamless logistics services can play an important part in facilitating the global supply-chain process. Logistics involves a wide range of related activities, including storage, inventory management, materials handling, and order processing. Also for effective logistics management, a reliable logistics security is required. (Shipping and Logistics Management, Y.H.V. Lun, K.H. Lai and T.C.E. Cheng, page 147)
