Small
Batch production become
a major production mode, in this production mode, the
batch of parts is small and the variety is many, it is difficult
to satisfy the data capacity requirements of statistical
process control, even the control charts were made, however
it is easy to get erroneous estimation and send out false
alarms because of lacking the sample data which are easy
to disturb natural produce.
Therefore it has great significance
of improving product quality based on part family
with the similar working procedure by transforming the
product quality characteristic parameters from the key working
procedure to obey the same distribution, establishing
dynamic quality control charts to inspect the manufacturing
process real time.
CURRENT STATUS OF QUALITY CONTROL IN SMALL
BATCH MODE
In
the mode of Small Batch production, the batch of parts is
small and the variety is many, and product design sizes are dissimilar,
the grades of precision are different, it is difficult to
use the traditional statistical process control to make control charts with the objective of inspecting the manufacturing
process.

DATA TRANSFORMED METHOD BASED ON PART
FAMILY
According
to the characteristic of manufacturing techniques
of the same part family, it can make use of group
technology
to establish the part family in Small Batch Production
mode; this can solve the problem of lacking sample
data. Controlling quality based on part family needs to
solve two problems, first, in the initial stage of processing, data
is absent, the conventional quality control method is difficult
to apply because of lacking data and easy to get false
alarm; second, how to transform data without the total average
of manufacturing process to make control charts in time
to inspect the state of process without the product process
average.

Small Batch Production ( Old )
Production rate is defined as the number of the parts produced per unit
time, such as per day, per month or per year. The approximate and
generally accepted ranges are given at the related tables in books or
standarts. Job shops typically produce small quantities per year using
various stardard general-purpose machine tools or machinig centers.
Small-batch production is the kind of a production which has the
quantities typically range from 10 to 100 and the equipment used
consists of general-purpose machines and machining centers with various
computer controls.
